Michael Hackman is the Chief Executive Officer of Hackman Capital Partners (HCP), which he founded in 1986. Under his leadership, the company has become a global real estate presence, having invested in properties representing more than $10 Billion in capitalization and approximately 37 million square feet.*
As the world’s largest owner and operator of independent film and television studios, the company has a portfolio of 19 studio campuses, with 145 active sound stages across North America, the UK and Ireland. The company also owns mixed-use, creative office, life-sciences, and industrial properties and has managed more than 500 tenants worldwide, including Amazon Studios, Apple, HBO, CBS, ABC, Columbia Pictures and Warner Brothers.
Michael began his 47-year real estate career in Southern California and spent seven years as an industrial broker at both Majestic Realty and CBRE before launching Hackman Capital Partners. He has directly spearheaded hundreds of complex transactions and liquidations on four continents, laying the foundation for the platform’s international expansion.
Michael commits both time and resources to many philanthropic causes. In 2020, he was pivotal in the development of the Changing Lenses initiative, which promotes diversity and inclusion in the film industry through job training, mentorships, and financial assistance. Michael also previously served as a Trustee for The Winward School in Los Angeles and Willows School in Culver City. He currently serves as board member of St. John’s Hospital and is a member of the Executive Board of the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles.
Michael grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Real Estate Finance in 1978. He formed HCP on his core Midwestern beliefs in value, ethics, hard work and results.
